When the interstate was built through the Brentwood area, it brought in a new age of both residential and commercial growth. It made commuting much easier for people who had work to work in Nashville but wanted to live in newer residential areas. So, in 1969, Brentwood incorporated as a city. A few years later, The Maryland Farms office complex was built on top of what was once an American saddle horse farm and race track (The Brentwood Derby was held there until the mid 70’s) As Nashville’s economy improved and expanded, so has development in Brentwood. In 2016, developers announced a 270 million dollar commercial, retail and hotel development project in the Cool Springs area. In Brentwood, you can find the round valley nature reserve, the Hannah Nicole Vineyards and “the streets of Brentwood” for shopping.
